Request Heating vacant-ish house in the winter
Hey all, I moved out of Buffalo, NY last year but kept my home as an Airbnb
Because Niagara Falls isnt too visitable during the winter (and football season ends shortly) the house is usually vacant Jan-Apr
I have a wifi thermostat
Whats the most efficient way to keep the house safe from freezing pipes and general detriment to the home?
Once a week turn the thermostat to 80°?
During day (benefit of some sunlight, natural heat)?
Overnight?
Keep the thermostat at 55° (lowest setting)? I feel like keeping it at the lowest setting will use the furnace more, putting more wear and tear onto the machine, but I could he wrong
Considerations include:
Wear and tear
Gas amount used
Random notes:
Previous owner installed highly efficient (97%) American Standard system with 2 stages
2 floors and a basement
I believe there is a ton of insulation in the attic but I never checked
Thanks for your time!

Self How long would it take to randomly shuffle a poker deck back to its original order? I built a live simulator 🤓
A shuffled deck has 52! (8×10⁶⁷) possible arrangements.
If you shuffle once per second, matching a specific order would take longer than the age of the universe - WAY longer.
So I built a site that actually does it – shuffling in your browser, counting how many cards land in the correct position each time.

ETA for 1 quintillion shuffles: \~6,300 years
The distribution follows a Poisson curve with λ=1 – meaning the average cards in position is always 1, no matter the deck size.

request This is very important, how many European badgers could fit in the Colosseum in Rome?
It's as the noscript says, I need to know how many badgers could fit in there. I'm pretty sure a European badger is around 122 liters large, but I could be wrong.
EDIT: I meant specifically on the *inside* of the Colosseum, not the outside.
