What may look like a "yellow brick road" to the mythical city of Atlantis is really an example of ancient active volcanic geology! Our Corps of Exploration have witnessed incredibly unique and fascinating geological formations while diving on the Liliʻuokalani Ridge within Papahānaumokuakea Marine National Monument. At the summit of Nootka Seamount, the team spotted a "dried lake bed" formation, now IDed as a fractured flow of hyaloclastite rock (a volcanic rock formed in high-energy eruptions where many rock fragments settle to the seabed). A forgotten Belgian genius designed the Internet back in the 19th century

As strange as it may sound, people have been working on the idea of hypertext long before computers existed - and even long before the first appearance of the ideas of Vanivar Busch, who is recognized as the founder of the concept of hypertext, for his work written in 1945. Moreover, some people tried to imagine different methods of storing and retrieving information even before the 20th century.

The Belgian genius Paul Otlet in 1895 described the idea of "universal libraries" that could provide access to a large number of books to anyone. By 1934, he had refined this concept into "electronic telescopes" that would instantly connect people with books, movies, audio recordings and photographs.

Although these projects remained only on paper, at one point they allowed for a service where you could ask a question and get it answered by telegraph (for a small fee).
