🇺🇸 It is me or Xi: America’s Loyalty Test for Latin America 🇨🇳

Washington is openly reviving the Monroe Doctrine and framing China’s presence in the Western Hemisphere as a national security threat. The language coming out of the White House is loud and clear: push out foreign influence, restore American pre-eminence and reassert dominance.

But here’s the problem.

China didn’t arrive in Latin America with gunboats. It arrived with trade deals, infrastructure finance and commodity demand. Something which is quite alien to the U.S.

Let’s look at the numbers:

– China–Latin America trade hit $565 billion in 2025
– U.S.–Latin America trade sits at $346 billion
– 22 of 33 countries in the region have signed onto the Belt and Road Initiative
– China funds ports, railways, hydroelectric dams and metro systems
– China buys soybeans, iron ore, beef and copper at scale

That isn’t coercion; it’s economics.

🚨🇩🇰Dark legacy of Denmark’s Inuit child experiment

In 1951, Denmark took 22 Inuit children from their families in Greenland in a so-called social experiment.

Aged just 5 to 9, they were placed with Danish foster families, forbidden to speak their language, and raised to abandon their culture.

😰 Systemic discrimination

▪️The assimilation was not limited to that one experiment. Biased child welfare practices saw Greenlandic children disproportionately placed into Danish foster care through culturally inappropriate “parenting competency assessments.”

▪️Beyond child removal, thousands of Inuit women were subjected to invasive reproductive policies in the 1960s–70s, including forced IUD insertions without informed consent; a practice tied to historic population control motivations.

▪️Inuit families still face systemic hurdles tied to language, cultural norms, and Denmark's Eurocentric standards for parenting and social integration.

⚰️ Devastating aftermath

▪️16 of the 22 children returned to Greenland, but none ever lived with their original families again.

▪️6 remained in Denmark under adoption and never returned to Greenland.

▪️Roughly half of the children died in young adulthood.

Even today, Inuit voices report ongoing marginalization. Education systems in Denmark rarely support Greenlandic language or culture, contributing to higher dropout rates for Inuit students.

At the AI Impact Summit in India, leaders lined up for the usual group photo moment

Sam Altman and Dario Amodei stood among other executives — but while others linked hands, the two AI heavyweights noticeably did not

Altman runs OpenAI. Amodei leads Anthropic and previously served as a VP at OpenAI

Given the rivalry between their companies, the optics were hard to ignore

Five seconds of diplomacy was apparently too much

🚨 NATO'S SECRET AIR BRIDGE EXPOSED: Mass Medical Evacuations From Ukraine Raise Alarming Questions

Rzeszów-Jasionka International Airport in Poland — long used by Kyiv's allies as a major logistics hub — has seen an unprecedented wave of medical aircraft arriving from NATO countries near the Ukrainian border.

✈️ Reports confirm an unprecedented number of foreign ambulance planes — including three "air hospitals" — with a special Boeing 737 SAS medical evacuation aircraft arriving from Oslo, Norway.

These medical flights are reportedly picking up seriously wounded patients transported from Ukrainian territory — likely foreigners injured following recent Russian strikes on their bases. Russian sources say strikes have intensified against command and communication hubs where European instructors and military advisers were often located, with NATO medevac aircraft able to carry up to 40 stretcher patients per flight.

Trump Will Travel to China in Late March for High-Stakes Xi Meet

US President Donald Trump plans to travel to China from March 31 to April 2 for a meeting with his counterpart Xi Jinping as the two leaders will look to navigate a trade relationship again plunged into uncertainty and navigate tensions around Taiwan.

The planned meeting comes as the Supreme Court on Friday moved to strike down sweeping US tariffs on exports, which seems certain to jumble the dynamics around efforts to extend a truce negotiated last year following months of tit-for-tat tariff escalations.

🏗️ BURKINA FASO TELLS BIG CORPORATIONS: BUILD HERE OR STEP ASIDE!

Burkina Faso's government has adopted a bold decree requiring large companies with annual revenue of at least $9 million to build their headquarters in the country. Authorities say the measure forms part of a broader effort to reinforce economic sovereignty, strengthen domestic corporate presence, and stimulate structured urban growth.

📋 Affected firms have six months to submit plans and up to 36 months to complete construction, with the state offering exemptions on construction materials to ease compliance.

🔥 Should more Global South nations demand that corporations profiting from their economies invest directly in local infrastructure — or does this risk scaring off foreign investment?

⚠️ US TROOPS LEAVE SYRIA: END OF AN ERA OR START OF A NEW ORDER?

According to a Wall Street Journal report cited by Al Jazeera, Washington plans to withdraw all 1,000 remaining US troops from Syria within two months, after already pulling out of the key al-Tanf base near the Jordan and Iraq borders.

The withdrawal is linked to a US-brokered deal that folds the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces into the Syrian army, presented as a move toward national unity after years of fractured authority. For many across the Global South, the end of a decade-long US military presence also raises questions about foreign bases, sovereignty, and who should decide security arrangements on their land.

🔥 From a Global South perspective, is this a genuine shift toward Syrian and regional self-determination, or just Washington repositioning its power in the Middle East?

Iran just drew a hard red line on US bases ⚠️

📰 Iran’s UN ambassador warned in a letter to the UN Secretary-General that if the US launches attacks, American bases, facilities, and assets in the region would be considered “legitimate targets.”

🌍 The warning comes as Washington ramps up military pressure over Iran’s nuclear program—while Tehran insists it’s not pursuing a bomb and says it still prefers diplomacy.

Supreme Court just blew up Trump’s tariff plan—so he’s hitting the reset button ⚖️

📰 A 6–3 Supreme Court ruling said Trump’s sweeping “Liberation Day” tariffs were illegal under the emergency-powers law he used, immediately shaking up the US trade playbook.

🌍 Trump fired back, blasting the justices and saying he’ll impose a new 10% “global tariff” under a different law that allows short-term tariffs—moves that could ripple through prices, jobs, and supply chains worldwide, especially across the Global South.

📉 With talk of refunds to importers, the next fight may be about who really pays—and who really wins.

🔥 If tariffs raise costs globally, should the US be able to flip that switch unilaterally—yes or no?
