This is my daughter. This is a field in the small town I grew up in. My family has been in this town since it's first day. My ancestor was the very first blacksmith here and I now weld and fabricate in a small shop in my moms garage with my brother. My grandfather used to run in these fields as a child. He never got to meet my daughter in person. I watched her this day for a few hours. Talking to herself, smiling, catching bugs, inspecting plants and flowers. Walking the same footsteps as her ancestors. They were all with us that day and every other. Watching her grow, encouraging her curiosity. They were there smiling knowing that we're loving the things they once loved. Learning what they learned. Be the person your ancestors deserve. Work hard, play hard, learn hard, love hard. Came across this post from 2021 and it rustled my jimmies in a way. We need to do more so our children and their children can have those same experiences one day. We are not worshipping ashes. We are preserving The Flame. Never forget that.
