WATCH: President Donald J. Trump speaks to reporters as he departs the White House

President Trump defends DHS Secretary Kristi Noem as Democrats call for her ouster following the fatal shootings involving federal agents in Minneapolis.

REPORTER: "Is Sec. Noem going to step down?"

POTUS: "No."

POTUS: "I think she's doing a very good job... the border is totally secure. You forget, we had a border that I inherited where millions of people were coming through. Now, we have a border where no one is coming through."

POTUS on the investigation into Alex Pretti's death:

"We're doing a big investigation. I want to see the investigation. I'm going to be watching over it. I want a very honorable and honest investigation — I have to see it myself."

POTUS: "I'm looking at that whole situation. I love everybody. I love all of our people. I love his family — and it's a very sad situation."

POTUS delivers remarks before departing for Iowa: I had a great conversation with the highly respected President of Syria... Tom Homan, as you know, is in Minnesota now. He's meeting with the governor, and he's meeting with the mayor later, and I hear that's all going well.

Trump said Noem is doing a great job, she’s not going anywhere, and stayed firm on his stance that we have to deport the illegals.

Meanwhile, the Dems have not calmed down their rhetoric against ICE/Trump.

Nothing has changed. It appears both sides are fighting for optics during this chaos.

Trump is remaining calm and controlled, making sure not to appear trigger-happy or ruthless, because the Dems are desperate to paint him as Hitler. The Dems are trying to play victim and make it seem as if they are under assault from a totalitarian dictator.

I think we are witnessing a bit of tact from Trump. I think he decided to throw a little water on the fire to calm things down, but neither side has actually relinquished their posture. Trump is still going to deport the illegals, and the Dems are still going to fight him every step of the way.

WATCH: President Donald J. Trump receives a hero's welcome at the Machine Shed in suburban Des Moines, Iowa 🔥

POTUS greets patrons, signs hats while visiting a Machine Shed in suburban Des Moines.

WE LOVE IOWA! ❤️

POTUS: "We secured the border, crime is down all over the country... In Minnesota, you probably read their crime is way down. You know why? Because we took out thousands of criminals out of Minnesota... Tom Homan is over there. We all love Tom."

POTUS: I do that all the time, I shake up teams... We did something that nobody said was possible... We closed the border, and in the last 8 months, nobody crossed the border... I think it's the most successful first term ever.

POTUS introduces Iowans to ABC Fake News: "She hasn't asked me a good question in years. I think a nice woman, but I don't really like her too much." 🤣

"Can I pray for you real quick?"

"Absolutely—come on!"

Iowa man prays for POTUS before he heads to deliver a speech near Des Moines. ❤️ 🙏

President Trump says people will be held accountable in Minnesota for the fraud they uncovered and says the riots taking place are simply to divert attention away from the massive scandal.

“The answer is yeah. There will be accountability… I happen to think that a lot of what’s going on in Minneapolis, a lot of what’s going on with all the hoopla, is so people don’t talk about the fraud.

I’ve said it from day one. I’ve said it’s a distraction… What you don’t see is that we have hundreds of accountants… going over everything that’s happening and we’re finding fraud on top of fraud, on top of fraud.”

Exactly. There are no riots in any other state, at least for now, but the one state with a bright spotlight on them decides to start rioting over ICE agents? GTFOH.

They are all terrified because the walls are closing in.

Sounds like California is next.

Today I met with Governor Walz, Mayor Frey, and top law enforcement officials to discuss the issues on the ground in Minnesota. We all agree that we need to support our law enforcement officers and get criminals off the streets. While we don’t agree on everything, these meetings were a productive starting point and I look forward to more conversations with key stakeholders in the days ahead. President Trump has been clear: he wants American cities to be safe and secure for law-abiding residents — and they will be.
