TIL about Dillibe Onyeama who in 1969 became the first black person to finish their studies at the prestigious Eton College in England. He wrote a book about racism at Eton and was subsequently banned from visiting the school. He finally received an apology for his treatment this year.

TIL The developers of a game called Game Dev Tycoon, released 2 versions of their game; one was an official release, and the other was a pirated version released directly onto pirating sites. The only difference between them was that in the latter, in-game companies would go bankrupt due to piracy.

TIL of the Townsville mutiny - a WWII mutiny by African American members of the US Army in Townsville, AU. Black troopers, subject to regular racial abuse by some of their white officers, turned their machine guns and AA guns on their officers' tents, firing 700 rounds. It was only revealed in 2011.

TIL Scotland has an additional criminal verdict known as the 'barstard verdict' or 'not proven' as well as 'guilty' and 'not guilty'. The 'barstard verdict' can be used the jury when they feel the person is guilty, but not enough proofs have been shown by the crown. (It is treated as an aquittal).

TIL a pod of dolphins saved a group of swimmers from a great white shark by herding the swimmers together and doing tight circles around them to create a barrier. The dolphins kept this up for 40 minutes until the shark lost interest and was safe for the swimmers to swim to shore.
