TIL after executing the royal Romanov family the Cheka gathered up distant relatives and threw them down the same mine shaft they put the royal family. Many people didn't die so they used grenades to finish them off. When that didn't work they put brushwood down the shaft and lit it on fire.

TIL the claim on Cheerios' box that it could lower cholesterol by 4% was removed after the FDA warned General Mills that it was false advertising. GM fought back but eventually changed the box to read the cereal could lower cholesterol as part of a heart healthy diet.

TIL that NFL QB Terry Bradshaw had elbow surgery in 1983 and told the Steelers that he would be ready to play that year. Because of this, they didn't draft future HOF QB Dan Marino. Bradshaw only played one more game, reinjuring his elbow and retiring. The Steelers didn't win another SB for 26 years
