TIL A 2008 review of 11 studies found flossing was no more effective than brushing alone in reducing plaque or gingivitis. A 2011 review found "some evidence" from 12 studies, and "weak, very unreliable evidence from 10 studies" that it did. The US government stopped recommending flossing in 2015.
