By the end of September 30, the Armed Forces of Ukraine failed to complete the operation on the physical encirclement of Liman.

▪️After the withdrawal from Drobyshevo and Yampol, the defense of the RF Armed Forces is lined up along the outskirts of Liman and the buffer zone around the Liman-Zarechnoye-Torskoye road. Despite the attempts of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to physically block the corridor, the Russian troops repelled the blows.

The number of the advancing group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine totals at least six thousand people: armored groups are trying to advance from Drobyshevo, Stavko, Dibrovo and Yampol to Liman itself.

▪️At the same time, from the side of Kolodezey, a breakthrough was made to Terny along the dam through the reservoir: the armored vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine managed to enter the settlement for a while, but then they were thrown back.

The decision of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to apply for accelerated NATO membership came as a surprise to the US administration, Politico reports, citing sources.

No, Ukraine will not enter NATO. Ever.

Zelensky is asking for "accelerated" consideration of his country's NATO application. Accelerated or not, the idea is a non-starter. Article 5 of NATO's founding document promises that an attack on one member is an attack on all. Definitionally, bringing in a country at war brings the entire alliance into the fight. That means tanks, bombs, artillery, HIMARS, drones, operated by—God forgive us—valorous men and women of the U.S., the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Germany, and 25 others, including tiny Montenegro.

Admitting Ukraine to the alliance, Mr. Zelensky, is the worst idea ever.

It looks, that Zelensky is loosing the clear vision of reality (even if we assume that he ever had one). It happens to everyone, who is engulphed in the world of his own ideas stimulated by propaganda, which he himself starts believing. A classical "positive feedback loop": produce a lie, believe it yourself - make a mistake...

Yes, he started believing, that he is an independent politician, so he can act without prior confirmation from the puppet master. Because of that he has launched that appeal for accelerated joining the NATO and was strictly rebuffed.

Another example of Zelensky loosing the grip of reality is his wishful thinking concerning the encirclement of five southands of Russian troops in Liman. It looks, that he himself started believing in the possibility of a military victory over Russia after Izum retreat. First of all, if there would be five thousands of Russian troops, Ukrainian Army would not even approach that town. As a matter of fact, it was and still is defended by several hundreds of Militia and Donbas volunteers. We are not discussing here, why it has happened (it should have not... but it is another story). However, his plan to spoil celebrations on the joining the Russian Federation by the news of capturing Liman did not work.

With the sabotage of the Nord Stream pipeline, there is now no feasible way back. Europe can no longer physically import Russian gas – prices will remain high until Europe builds more energy capacity, which could take years.

What is likely to come of this? High energy prices will render European manufacturing uncompetitive. European manufacturers will be forced to pass through the higher energy costs in the form of higher prices and consumers will find it cheaper to buy products from countries with normal energy prices. The only logical European response to the threat of widespread deindustrialisation is to raise tariffs. This is the only way to equalise prices between more expensive European goods and cheaper foreign goods, therefore artificially supporting European manufacturing. This strategy will lower living standards, depriving Europeans of cheaper goods, but it will at least preserve some manufacturing jobs.

This process looks remarkably like the start of the Great Depression.

WASHINGTON — The Pentagon is preparing to overhaul how the United States and its allies train and equip the Ukrainian military, reflecting what officials say is the Biden administration’s long-term commitment to support Ukraine in its war with Russia.

The proposal would streamline a training and assistance system that was created on the fly after the Russian invasion in February. The system would be placed under a single new command based in Germany that would be led by a high-ranking U.S. general, according to several military and administration officials.

Gen. Christopher G. Cavoli, the top American officer in Europe, recently presented a proposal outlining the changes to Defense Secretary Lloyd J. Austin III, the officials said. Mr. Austin and his top aides are reviewing the plan and are likely to make a final decision in the coming weeks, senior U.S. officials said, adding that the White House and the Pentagon favored the approach. The officials spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe confidential discussions.

Just as the Pentagon has committed more than $16 billion in military aid to Ukraine — a combination of immediate shipments from stockpiles as well as contracts for weapons to be delivered over the next three years — the new command signals that the United States expects the threat from Russia to Ukraine and its neighbors to persist for many years, current and former senior U.S. officials said.

They were full of courage, they had a resource, quite realistic plans, an initiative, in the end .... They were going to give in to the Mariupol direction, for which they transferred forces and means near Vugledar - but they ran into resistance in Krasny Liman and got stuck.

To break our guys, they had to cancel plans and take resources from other directions, but the pace was already lost, the shock of the retreat had already passed, mobilization began. If it were not for the Krasny Liman factor, besides the Kharkov fiasco, many more problems awaited us... Assessing the situation, our battalion was already preparing for battles in encirclement, for which it began to form positions at the line of retreat. We doubted that the enemy would pass through us - the conditions of the terrain helped us - but on the right and on the left he could break through the defences and go to our rear. Chaotic retreat, getting into the mess and getting lost is not an option. So, we need to take up all-round defence - so we decided. But someone had the courage to resist and fight, and the processes did not go in Ukraine's favour. Even if the garrison of the Red Estuary retreats, it has fulfilled its most important task.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine concentrated their main efforts on three sections of the roads: Liman - Zarechnoye, Torskoye - Kremennaya, Torskoye - Svatovo. Properly distributing forces, the Ukrainian formations focused on cutting the lines of communication of the Russian troops.

At the same time, the pushing through of Russian defensive orders continued in Liman itself, Stavki, the northern environs of Yampol and along the “road of life”.

▪️By noon on October 1, the Armed Forces of Ukraine managed to physically cut off the Torskoye-Svatovo road and pin down the forces of the RF Armed Forces in the Ternov area.

▪️The Ukrainian flag was raised at the western entrance (49.012093, 37.772098) to Liman: at least 20% of the city was controlled by the enemy by that time. This is evidenced by the absence of sounds of small arms combat and artillery strikes at the western entrance to the city.
