According to her, it will be impossible to make transactions above the marginal price. The market correction mechanism will be launched automatically under two conditions, the European Commissioner stressed.
First, the price of gas exceeds a certain level, that is, 275 euros, for two weeks. And the second is if the spread between the TTF price and the global LNG price is 58 euros or more within ten trading days,” Simson explained.

As specified in a press release from the European Commission, the new mechanism for limiting gas price spikes can be activated from January 1, 2023. The initiative is planned to be discussed at a meeting of EU energy ministers on 24 November.
