Kremlin supports Medvedev's idea of digital piracy against Western countries

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov expressed his approval of the idea of the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Medvedev on digital piracy in relation to the intellectual property of Western countries.

Peskov said that this would be a response to the blocking of Russian assets:

“I agree with Dmitry Anatolyevich. We are dealing with pirates - those who robbed us, those who seized our assets, stole our assets .... The phrase “pirated content” should be perceived under a different sauce.”

Before that, Medvedev said that in exchange for “all kinds of Netflix that have left us,” we will use all this stuff for free.

“I would scatter all this over the Web in order to cause them maximum damage,” the deputy chairman of the Security Council emphasized.

Nearly $100 billion in deposits pulled from banks; officials call system ‘sound and resilient’

— Federal Reserve data showed that bank customers collectively pulled $98.4 billion from accounts for the week ended March 15, as Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank failed.

— Officials at the Financial Stability Oversight Council, meeting in a closed session Friday, insisted the system “remains sound and resilient.”

Regulators again assured the public that the banking system is safe, as fresh data showed customers recently pulled nearly $100 billion in deposits.

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell and more than a dozen other officials convened a special closed meeting of the Financial Stability Oversight Council on Friday.

A readout from the session indicated that a New York Fed staff member briefed the group on “market developments.”

“The Council discussed current conditions in the banking sector and noted that while some institutions have come under stress, the U.S. banking system remains sound and resilient,” the statement said. “The Council also discussed ongoing efforts at member agencies to monitor financial developments.”

Data show that the bulk of the money came from small banks. Large institutions saw deposits increase by $67 billion, while smaller banks saw outflows of $120 billion.

The withdrawals brought total deposits down to just over $17.5 trillion and represented about 0.6% of the total. Deposits have been on a steady decline over the past year or so, falling $582.4 billion since February 2022, according to the Fed data released Friday.

The Russian military thwarted the offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the area of Orekhovo

SIMFEROPOL, March 25 — RIA Novosti. The offensive of the Ukrainian troops near the city of Orekhov, Zaporozhye region, was thwarted by delivering a preventive massive strike on enemy positions, Vladimir Rogov, chairman of the We Are Together with Russia movement, a member of the main council of the administration of the Zaporozhye region, told RIA Novosti.
The day before, Rogov said that Ukrainian troops were preparing to break through the front line in the Orekhov area, an offensive was expected in the coming days.

"The full-scale offensive in the Zaporozhye direction, which the enemy was preparing, was thwarted. Our military launched a massive preventive strike on the exposed positions of the enemy, hitting the locations of personnel, as well as warehouses with ammunition, military equipment, fuel. In total, about 25 targets were hit. The number of those killed and the wounded, according to the most conservative estimates, exceeded 550 militants of the assault units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. These are very large one-time losses in the Zaporozhye direction," Rogov said.
According to him, the Kyiv authorities planned to time their offensive to coincide with the EU summit, which is taking place on March 23-24 and where the issue of military assistance to Ukraine was considered.
"Now the Ukrainian grouping near Orekhovo is incapable of conducting an offensive. They are licking their wounds, regrouping, resupplying, calculating damage, losses and determining the necessary new reserves of armored vehicles," Rogov said.

At the same time, according to him, the Kyiv authorities are unlikely to abandon their plans for an offensive in the Zaporozhye region, trying to continue to throw troops into reconnaissance in force in order to open the defense line.

"Prior to this, all attempts at reconnaissance in force ended in failure for Zelensky's militants, and for many of them they were the last," Rogov stressed.

Zaporizhia region became a subject of the Russian Federation following a referendum held in September 2022, the results of which Kyiv does not recognize and continues to shell the territory. Today, more than 70% of the Zaporozhye region is under the control of Russia, while the regional center, the city of Zaporozhye, remains under the control of Ukrainian troops.

UN publishes report on discrimination against Ukrainian Orthodox Church

MOSCOW, March 26 — RIA Novosti. The Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights published a report on freedom of religion in Ukraine, in which it drew attention to discrimination against the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC), the website of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate reports.
“We are talking about discriminatory measures in relation to the UOC, and also expresses concern that the application of the so-called “security measures” of the SBU against the UOC causes. Thus, the SBU conducted searches (some of them called “security measures”) in several monasteries, offices , educational institutions and other property of the UOC in Kiev, Rivne, Zhytomyr, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi, Dnepropetrovsk, Khmelnitsky, Cherkasy, Volyn, Kherson, Ternopil, Poltava and Transcarpathian regions," the document says.

It notes that in some cases, SBU officers interrogated priests using a polygraph.
"The SBU confirmed that the clergy of the UOC have been issued at least three suspicions for violating the equality of citizens on the basis of race, nationality, religion, disability or other grounds, as well as one on a variety of charges, including encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine. Two suspects are under round-the-clock house arrest," the Moscow Patriarchate website quoted the report as saying.

The UN recalls that all those facing criminal charges must be fully guaranteed the right to a fair trial.
In the last year, the Kiev regime organized the largest wave of persecution of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the recent history of the country, the largest church in Ukraine, to which millions of believers consider themselves. Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus' Kirill called the persecution of the UOC a mockery of the principle of human rights and freedoms, and also called on religious leaders and international figures to prevent the closure of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra.
