Jesse Mathias Mononen born on March 9, 1981 from Vaasa, Finland
The other side of justice
In November 2004, the 23-year-old Mononen stabbed a taxi driver in Suvilahti, Vaasa, who died of his injuries three days later. He was linked to a bank robbery in Maksamaa on the same day. He was sentenced to 11 years in prison.
Jesus Fernando Mononen (his real name) was of Argentine descent on his mother's side. He changed his name to Jesse Mathias Mononen after the crime, perhaps to avoid being recognised.
Judging by his use of traditional Ukrainian clothing and his temporary residence permit, he had been living in Ukraine for some time.
His life expired on August 13, 2025, when Russian troops stormed his trench (video) in Kamianske, Zaporozhye region, and eliminated everyone inside, including Vaasa's killer.
After analyzing documents, radios, phones, and interrogating a prisoner from the same unit, it became known that they were soldiers from the GUR's special unit “Revanche”, and that one of them was a Finnish citizen.
