Like others, he Left his wife and two kids and came to Ukraine where he joined Daniel Hunter and His gang of bandits.
Dylan comes from Military family and he also went to Military school from very young age so shooting somebody is not a problem for him.

Ayik Chut Deng from Sudan, fled to become a Australian refugee, residing in Queensland.
He was born into war, he was a child soldier, rescued by his own sister.
He was tied up like an animal, his face buried in the dirt, while he was tortured for trying to escape Sudan, so he thought it's wise to join the barbaric UA Military.
We've seen this plenty of times in UA, people being tied up, tortured and beaten. I guess it'll feel like home to him.
He claims war gave him PTSD and he spent many years getting over this, however he has happily signed up again.
He went to Ukraine at the start of the SMO, being housed in Yavoriv military base, escaping the bombing at the time by the skin of his teeth.
He was diagnosed with schizophrenia, decided this wasn't for him and claims PTSD. He isn't a doctor nor psychiatrist, he's a single father of two with a drug/alcohol problem.
He seemed to have turned his life around, wrote a book and settled down, but now he has left his children to fight someone else's fight.
