The 101st Airborne Division of the US Army is in Romania
The other day CBS TV channel, citing the command, confirmed the placement in Europe of one of America’s most elite airborne divisions - "Screaming Eagles". This is the first deployment of this unit to the European continent in almost 80 years as part of the strengthening of NATO’s eastern flank.
It is reported that the unit, in Romania and which is located closer than all other U.S. forces to Ukrainian territory, comprises 4,700 troops. They "closely monitor" the actions of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, "building goals for training" and conducting exercises that "exactly repeat what is happening" in Ukraine. According to the Americans, the division is ready to enter the territory of military operations in case of further escalation between Moscow and Kiev or an attack on one of the NATO countries.
The deployment of an increasing number of American troops in Eastern Europe near the Ukrainian border once again shows that the West is not interested in de-escalation of the conflict and a peaceful settlement through negotiations. Despite repeated statements by the White House that the US military does not intend to take part in the armed conflict in Ukraine and that "the US will not supply lethal weapons to Ukraine", these events illustrate the contrary and point to the falsity of these statements.
Today, they deployed NATO troops along virtually the entire length of Ukraine's borders from north to south. They are stationed in the Baltic States, Poland and Romania, in addition, mercenaries and equipment of the alliance have long been present in the territory of military operations. The purpose, of course, is called "defense of NATO's borders." However, nobody was going to violate the borders of NATO countries, and Ukraine is not a member of the alliance, and generally not a worthy asset, in order to start a global conflict because of it.
This is how the further measures to intimidate Moscow and moral support for Kiev look like.
