What a treasure....his Grosse Oma (great grandmother) singing him a German Nursery Rhyme from the 1800s 😍 It is called "Hoppe, Hoppe Reiter"
They were so excited to play with worms! We put over 130 earth worms into our raised beds to help with nutrients and improve soil and harvest quality 😎
Let's be honest ~Only in a high trust, white, monocultural society can you meet up with someone to buy something and they put it in the back seat of their car or on their porch and tell you to just leave the money there.
Who else has experienced such beauty? 😍
Grateful. Thankful. Blessed 💗
They picked me flowers in our yard then smelled them 😍
This was a long project and labor of love, but our gardens are finished and we couldn't be happier!! 😍 Grow food, not lawns!

This is over 200 sq. feet of garden space. First, my husband cut the grass as short as possible. Then I measured and laid the weed tarp by hand, hammering it down with over 100 stakes. We let the grass die for a couple weeks and pulled any residual weeds. Then I put brick paver along the edges to help keep weeds out and the rocks in.

My husband helped to build the raised beds. They are 12 ft long, 4 ft wide and 1.5 ft tall. They are constructed of local solid Oak sawmill lumber (so strong and heavy they use it to build bridges!) We spread 180 bags of all organic soil mix in them and over 6 tons of pea gravel around them! We put in about 140 Earth worms into the beds for added soil quality. I put up trellises for the tomatoes on the furthest bed and added a patio set to sit out on and enjoy the garden.

I got the garden of my dreams and can't wait to start growing our food!
My little helper planting potatoes! We got organic Purple Majesty potato slips and I cut them into pieces with at least 2 eyes on each piece. Then we dug and planted them as deep as we could. First time planting potatoes in a potato box, wish us luck!
All of the hard work is done. Garden project complete!!! 😍 Going to put some linseed oil/beeswax on the wood beds, but other than that I'm calling it complete!! Do your part to beat the system and gain self sufficiency! May our family and yours be blessed with a bounty of fruits and veggies this year 🍓🍅🥔🥕🌶🥬
Happy Spring from Appalachia! I always love this time of year when everything comes back to life 😍
This verse has spoken to me so much over the years. Children are a blessing and raising them is a sacrifice unto the Lord; a woman's cross to bear. It is deeply fulfilling and equally exhausting work. A woman learns how strong she is during childbirth and how weak she is during the daily mundane. I have experienced these ebbs and flows; the beauty and disappointment, learning what truly matters and relinquishing Earthly desires.

Becoming a good mother is a painful and beautiful journey. I have fought my own inner demons and those of the Evil One time and time again. What I have learned is that only when you are completely broken down and worn out will you surrender to, and accept, God's will. Only then can you embrace your life, your duty and your purpose with grace. In that moment of surrender you find peace. I am certain that the more you struggle in doing God's will, the more glory you give to Him. The more that you aim to do what's right, things will fall into place in your life. Embrace the struggle 💗
