I didn't get serious about my domestic role and duties as a wife and mother until 2017...3-years-and-one-child into my marriage.
I was never taught how to cook or what it meant to be a good wife and selfless mother.
So, I began to teach myself. I quit my job to stay home. I posted food pics into women's groups to get excited to cook, stay motivated and be held accountable to make homemade meals.
I watched YouTube videos on basic home economics skills. I discussed parenting strategies, homeschool curriculums, and the joys and struggles of motherhood with online friends. I sought out local, likeminded community.
You have to start somewhere. No excuses. Take control of your life, embrace the changes and aim to be better every day!

My husband and I watch a show or two in the evening. We flipped on a show last night about alligator hunters in Louisiana. Apparently there's such a dangerous overpopulation of alligators there, that the counties give 30 day "open season" passes to kill as many as possible so they don't start coming inland.
Brave white men tackle the areas where people take their kids and families to swim first. They risk their lives every year to keep their communities safe. They've been doing this for hundreds of years.

What's the going rate for a teenage babysitter in your area? 👩👧👦
We pay ours $10/hour to watch 3 young children. She's a homeschooled, American Heritage Girl with experience caring for younger siblings. What a Godsend!
I make sure the house is filled with snacks and drinks for her when she comes. I also lay out everything she will need for the evening to make it easier (utensils, plates, diapers etc). I'm also thinking about getting her a Gas Card for driving to our house.
My kids love when she comes over and I always see her snuggling my youngest in her arms. If you find a jewel of a babysitter, take care of her and make her feel appreciated! Boy, do I value my monthly date night with my husband! 🥰

Next week it will be an important week: the birthweek of Robert E. Lee. On January 19th we commemorate the Confederate general Robert Edward Lee. In the Saxon household we usually start to celebrate this day on the third Monday of January, until Lee’s actual birthday on the 19th. This wholesome assignment covers a range of subjects, such as poetry, history, citizenship and what it takes to be a good man. Share this post with your friends so their children can learn about the good general, too.
