It means value is subjective.
What one person sees as useless, outdated, or worthless, someone else may see as useful, rare, or profitable.

The object doesn’t change the perception does.

The point is simple: something isn’t automatically worthless just because someone else threw it away. Value depends on who’s looking at it and what they know.
