What Aristotle actually said or wrote:
In Book V of Politics, Aristotle analyzes the causes of revolution and instability in different forms of government, including oligarchies. He observes that:

Oligarchies—where power is concentrated in the hands of the wealthy few—are prone to instability when inequality becomes too great.

He argues that extreme inequality breeds resentment, leading to revolutions as the disenfranchised seek to redistribute power or wealth.

Aristotle also warns that to suppress such uprisings, oligarchies may resort to tyranny, either by empowering a strongman or forming oppressive rule to protect elite interests.

He does not say explicitly "there are only two choices: tyranny or revolution," but he does describe how unchecked oligarchic inequality often leads either to popular uprisings or to despotic measures to prevent such uprisings.

❗️Hamas: Trump envoy promised Gaza blockade would be lifted after soldier’s release, then abandoned deal

Hamas says Trump’s special envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, pledged that Israel would lift the blockade on Gaza within 48 hours of the release of US-Israeli soldier Edan Alexander, Drop Site News reports.

The soldier was released on Monday in what Hamas says was a goodwill gesture. No Palestinian prisoners were freed in return, and the blockade remains in place. “It was a deal made by Witkoff himself,” said Hamas official Basem Naim. “They didn’t violate the deal, they threw it in the trash.”

❗️Israeli cabinet approves the entry of humanitarian aid into all areas of the Gaza Strip

After nearly three months of a brutal blockade, Israel has decided to temporarily allow humanitarian aid into Gaza, with PM Netanyahu's office citing concerns that the deepening hunger crisis could "jeopardize" the objectives of Operation Gideon’s Chariots.

A senior Israeli official told Axios that this “bridging period” is necessary while the newly announced US-Israeli aid mechanism – widely condemned by humanitarian groups for its restrictive controls – remains under development and is not expected to take effect until later this month.

The aid will include basic food supplies and is expected to enter through Kerem Shalom crossing and other designated corridors. It will be delivered via the UN World Food Programme, World Central Kitchen, and other international relief organizations, and will be monitored by these organizations.

National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir demanded a vote on the decision, but Prime Minister Netanyahu refused.
