Don’t be fooled. His father was installed by the CIA in 1953 because his predecessor (Mosaddegh) nationalized the oil that had been stolen from the Iranian people by the British.
Upon being installed in 1954, the Shah signed the Consortium Agreement, which bequeathed the oil that Mosaddegh had nationalized back to BP (British Petroleum). The Agreement was only good for 25 years, and when it came time to renew, the Shah decided not to do it, citing the Zionist aggression from Israel against the region.
That was in 1979.
So the CIA did what the CIA does when their puppets turn against them, and turned Iran into a bogeyman.
