The military dissolved a transitional government that had been set up to guide the country to democracy following the overthrow of long-ruling autocrat Omar al-Bashir in a popular uprising two years ago.

Millions of used, substandard medical gloves imported into US: report

Suppliers in Thailand dyed used medical gloves, some of which were visibly soiled or bloodstained, to make them appear new before exporting them to the United States, a CNN investigation found.

Thai health authorities raided the facility that was exporting the gloves in December and found migrant laborers who worked at the facility attempting to make the gloves appear unused, CNN reported. Criminal investigations surrounding the operation are ongoing.

CNN's investigation found that tens of thousands of the second-hand, sub-standard gloves arrived in the United States. The organization appeared to capitalize on the COVID-19 pandemic's increased demand for medical-grade nitrile gloves.

The Wisconsin Senate is launching its own investigation of the state's 2020 election, citing the findings of the audit just completed by the Legislative Audit Bureau.

Republican Senate leaders especially targeted the City of Madison when announcing their investigation, saying the city’s election officials refused to provide documents and ballots that the Legislative Audit Bureau had requested.

(The Senate investigation is separate from the state Assembly’s investigation, led by special council and former state Supreme Court Justice Michael Gableman.)

Worried that President Joe Biden’s Covid vaccine mandate for private companies could cause a mass exodus of employees, business groups are pleading with the White House to delay the rule until after the holiday season.

Industry lobbyists and private individuals last week as the administration conducts its final review of the mandate, which will require businesses with 100 or more employees to ensure they are vaccinated against Covid or tested weekly for the virus. It is estimated to cover roughly two-thirds of the private sector workforce.
