GOP blocks Senate DEM's revised elections bill

Senate Republicans have blocked the revised bill to overhaul federal elections from advancing, in yet another blow to (p)Resident Biden.

The Senate voted 49-51 to end debate on the Freedom to Vote Act, falling short of the 60 needed.

Democrats previously tried to bring a more expansive bill known as the For the People Act to the Senate floor, but were blocked by Republicans earlier this year.

Gov. Greg Abbott announced that the state of Texas is constructing its own border wall as the crisis at the U.S. southern border worsens as the Biden administration remains silent.

“Texas is stepping up and we are building our own border wall,” said Abbott. The calculated move is an effort to curtail the latest caravan of thousands of illegal immigrants from passing through the state’s border. An estimated 2,000-4,000 people are presently traveling through Mexico en route to either to Del Rio, Texas, or Yuma, Ariz.

American Airlines cancels, delays more than 700 Saturday flights due to weather, 'tight' staffing

American Airlines has canceled hundreds of flights over Halloween weekend, pointing to weather disruptions in Texas and tight staffing.

The Texas-based carrier canceled more than 450 flights nationwide and delayed more than 250 on Saturday, according to flight tracker Flight Aware. More than 300 Sunday flights have also been canceled.

In a Saturday letter to staff shared with USA TODAY, American Airlines said the cancellations were caused by two days of severe winds in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
