Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s administration has reportedly burned notes and destroyed emails from a coronavirus probe targeting the City of Port Huron for violating state rules.
“When asked about notes he took during the investigation and interviews, Hartman said he burned them,” the News reported about Hartman questioned in a deposition by a city attorney. “The inspector also said he destroyed emails from his supervisor regarding the case.”
It is unknown why the notes and emails were disposed of.

Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy and Republican Jack Ciattarelli @JackCiattarelli on Wednesday were locked in what amounts to a tie in the New Jersey governor’s race, with both candidates buckling up for a close finish likely to be contested by the loser.
The Associated Press has not yet declared a winner in the contest, which was too early to call. But Murphy had a lead of less than a percentage point in incomplete results as county elections officials continued to count ballots.
The closeness of the race has surprised experts, who watched public polls showing Murphy leading comfortably and looked to his party’s registration advantage of more than a million voters.

The New Jersey governor’s race is still up in the air thanks to vote-counting debacles plaguing several counties including in a key area where dozens of machines were shut down before ballots were counted.
A mistake by a poll worker led machines in 56 voting districts in Essex County, the state’s second-most populated region, to be turned off before their ballots were tallied, local election officials said.
“Those machines have to be brought back to the warehouse, and the judge will issue an order for us to open those machines, retrieve the results and post those results,’’ County Clerk Christopher Durkin told News 12.
He told The Post on Wednesday that he expects to have the districts’ results by Thursday night.

In the middle of a fiercely contested race for governor in New Jersey, a potentially historic upset is bubbling in the state's senate race that would see a humble truck driver who spent only $150 on his campaign unseat the longest-tenured legislature in New Jersey history.
