People who spread misinformation on Covid-19 vaccines are “criminals” and have cost “millions of lives,” Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla said Tuesday.
Speaking with Washington D.C.-based think tank Atlantic Council, Bourla said there is a “very small” group of people that purposefully circulate misinformation on the shots, misleading those who are already hesitant about getting vaccinated.
“Those people are criminals,” he told Atlantic Council CEO Frederick Kempe. “They’re not bad people. They’re criminals because they have literally cost millions of lives.”

A bill aimed at permitting people to use algorithm-free tech platforms has been introduced by a group of bipartisan House members, Axios is reporting.
The bill is a companion to proposed legislation in the Senate.
The House bill is sponsored by Reps. Ken Buck, R-Colo.; David Cicilline, D-R.I.; Lori Trahan, D-Mass.; and Burgess Owens, R-Utah.
It would require internet platforms to allow people to use a version of their service that is not dictated by algorithms, Axios said. Sen. John Thune, R-S.D., is sponsoring the Senate bill.
The lawmakers maintain algorithms violate users' privacy by personalizing content on social networks and other apps, Axios noted. And conservatives have claimed the social media giants censor their speech.

They will instead be allowing parents in all grades to decide whether their children should wear a face covering, the superintendent announced Tuesday.
Miami-Dade County School Superintendent Alberto Carvalho made the announcement after a judge ruled last week that Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis was within his authority to allow parents to opt out of strict mandates. But rather than cite the decision, Carvalho said coronavirus cases are dropping, adding that protocols could change if cases spike again.

Consumer Price Index in October rose 6.2%, highest in over 30 years
The Labor Department reported Wednesday the consumer price index rose 6.2% from a year ago, according to the Labor Department.
The number is the largest 12-month increase since the period ending November 1990, according the agency's Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Economists projected the increase would be 5.9%, citing pandemic-related supply shortages.
On a monthly basis, the CPI increased 0.9%, compared to economists' estimates of 0.6% estimate.
