Ghislaine Maxwell could be about to discover her fate in what's been dubbed the 'Trial of the Century' by some - and largely ignored by others. Jurors began their fifth day of deliberations, and almost 24 hours in total.

Pediatric COVID-19 hospitalizations in New York City rose by roughly 400 percent in December as the highly transmissible omicron variant spread throughout the state

From Dec. 11 to the 23rd, the number of children in New York City hospitalized with COVID-19 rose by 395 percent WABC-TV reported. The number of cases rose from 22 to 109 in the city while the number of cases statewide rose from 70 to 184.

The jury in Ghislaine Maxwell’s sex trafficking trial concluded its fifth day of deliberations.

Tuesday as the socialite continues a long wait to hear whether she will face up to 70 years in prison.
Jurors are considering six charges against Ms Maxwell. Judge Alison Nathan extended deliberations to 6pm on Tuesday, citing an “astronomical spike” in cases of the Omicron coronavirus variant.

“It’s time to have the jurors make plans to continue deliberating until a verdict is reached,” she said, noting that the Omicron surge could force jurors into quarantine and jeopardise the “ability to complete this trial”.

Maxwell Update: Jury to Deliberate EVERY DAY over Covid Fears

Judge Alison Nathan has told the jurors in the Ghislaine Maxwell sex trafficking trial to continue deliberating every day until a verdict is reached, amidst fears over New York’s “astronomical spike” in Covid cases.

"We now face a higher and escalating risk that the jurors and trial participants may need to quarantine,” Nathan said, also requiring them to stay behind an extra hour each day too, despite expecting Thursday and Friday off.
