J&J Drops Talc-based Baby Powder Globally as Cancer Lawsuits Mount

Johnson & Johnson said it had made the “commercial decision” to transition all its baby powder products to use cornstarch instead of talcum powder.

The healthcare giant has faced tens of thousands of lawsuits from consumers who allege its talc products, including the instantly recognisable brand of Johnson’s baby powder, caused them to develop cancer.

In 2020, J&J stopped selling the talc-based version in North America after a fall in demand in the wake of what it said was “misinformation” about the product’s safety - after US regulators found traces of asbestos in the powder.

Europe in Drought: No Drinking Water in France

100 municipalities across the republic have no access to water safe to drink - and trucks must supply it from other towns. “There’s nothing left in the pipes,” said Ecological Transition Minister Christophe Bechu.

The drought comes amid wildfires, evacuations, and heat-related deaths as temperatures reach a sizzling 40C. The shortage is also having devastating impacts elsewhere, with farmers reporting production plummeting in soy, sunflower and corn.

The French govt describe the drought as “the worst ever recorded” as the Loire - the longest river in the country - dries up, allowing tourists to cross it to a nearby castle.

⚡️FBI Obtains Notorious Pegasus Spyware – Claims Tool Never Used for Investigation

The US agency said it procured a “limited license” on the surveillance software merely for “product testing and evaluation only” in order to “stay abreast of emerging technologies and tradecraft.”

The bureau also claimed in a statement that it had never used Pegasus in support of any FBI investigation. (The Guardian)

The NSO spyware came to light in July following an investigation led by Forbidden Stories, a Paris-based media non-profit, in collaboration with Amnesty International.

Some 50,000 phones have been illegally accessed using the malware, according to the investigation.
