Dogs Cry With Happiness When Reunited With Owners - Study

A team at a Japanese university has discovered that dogs are more like us than we thought when it comes to showing their feelings.

According to the researchers at Azabu University, dogs have tear ducts that well up when experiencing particularly happy moments, such as being reunited with their owners after a separation.

By contrast, the dogs were found to have remained resolutely stony-faced when meeting unfamiliar humans. The team believes one trigger could be oxytocin, a “love hormone” which produces warm fuzzy feelings.
