Homeschool if you can please. It will make a huge impact in the quality of their lives as adults.
It's how it's always been until women were forced to join the workforce for social & financial reasons.
We understand how difficult it is to raise kids on single income or single parent. But please try to find a way to keep them with you as long as possible, especially when still very young.
Arrange playmates (under your watch) often, for socializing the little ones & even working parents can basic homeschool (all one needs really) few hours a few evenings a week.
At home, kids are happiest.

What people and schools don’t realize. We need to let young ones who are still growing, sleep and wake up naturally, since that’s when their brains develop healthy. We’re stunting their growth by forcing them to get less sleep. Many already have difficulty going to sleep easy, since they're constantly learning and processing so much in a day. Undisturbed sleep is what they need or they will be depressed, will find it difficult to focus, perform poorly the tasks given and required of them, act without empathy and conscience even.
