Another blow to the "poverty causes crime" hypothesis, especially since it doesn't hold across racial lines. (The difference in this graph is understated because of the pen's stroke path in P.S.; and we can use incarceration as an indicator of crime committed because crime reports match up with crime arrest.)

High birth rate high death rate undeveloped nations transitioning to low birth rate low death rate developed nations. Having many children now will make a disproportionate impact on the genepool.
