I remember 9-11 clear as a bell as so many of us do. I was driving back across the base from some bullshit stress management course (of all things!) that I had to attend, when I heard about the attacks on the radio.

I sped up to get back to my squadron faster so I could find out what the hell was going on. We all crowded around the TV watching CNN, of course 🤦‍♀️ and listened to the commentary. It was pretty quiet. We all knew almost instinctively what this meant. Our go-bags had better be ready because we were going to be headed somewhere. No one knew where yet, but it was kind of a given.

As we processed the horror of what was going on, I think I can safely say that none of us were awake. There were no sarcastic remarks. Well, there were, but that’s how you deal with death and dying in the military. You make jokes. It works, trust me. But, truly, no one was questioning what happened. I know I certainly wasn’t.

Over the coming days and weeks we were issued warning orders and told to prepare to deploy to “an austere location” for at least six months. That’s a tricky packing job, let me assure you. As in “How austere are we talking here, Boss?” Like dirt and bug-eating austere, or just tents and shitty food?
Turns out it was tents and shitty food, but I digress.

That period of time was a defining moment in my life. Until I woke up I saw it as the time America came together and we fought a common enemy. I went to war. I flew many combat missions. I thought I was doing the right thing and protecting my country. Now, of course, I see that we were all just pawns on a chess board, moved and positioned in a ludicrous game. And now here we are 20 years later, watching what has just happened in Afghanistan. Watching our country fall apart despite our best efforts to fight for her.

I also look back and understand the horrifying truth of the Anthrax vaccinations I was forced to take. I understand now what was going on on so many levels.

I’m angry, yes. But despite all of that I’m not bitter and here’s why. I know that I and my fellow airmen were there fighting for the right reasons according to our own consciences. Yes, we were used and the overarching plot was demonic, but we were not. Our hearts were pure and our intentions were for good. You see, the Cabal can try to take your soul, but the only way that happens is if you freely give it.

I did not and I never will.
I am sovereign and free. No one can take that from me.
And they can’t take it from you either.

Stand tall and fight back.
