Chairman Xu Jiayin wrote a company-wide letter to his 123,276 employees calling on them to unite and work hard in the face of adversity and the embattled company would soon “walk out of the darkness.”

The out of touch letter enraged Chinese social-media users who took to Weibo to criticize Evergrande for having more than $305 BILLION in liabilities — more than any other company in the world.

"Why don't you return the cash you borrowed?" One user quipped, with another saying "Pretty interesting coming from a man who cheats people of money and his workers of their salaries," commenting on the rumors that thousands of employees are owed their paychecks.
