⚡️HOLY HACK — Company that routes BILLIONS of texts WORLDWIDE quietly announces it was hacked for YEARS (Ars Technica)
Syniverse recently disclosed that hackers had unauthorized access to its systems for over five years, impacting more than 200 of its clients, including AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon and more, equating to potentially millions of cellphone breaches worldwide.
The company, revealed in a filing with the US Security and Exchange Commission that an unknown "individual or organization gained unauthorized access to databases within its network on several occasions,” and that following an "investigation revealed that the unauthorized access began in May 2016.”
Syniverse is not giving any information about the extent of the breach, telling Ars Technica "Given the… pending law enforcement investigation, we do not anticipate further public statements regarding this matter.”
