Facebook shutting down facial recognition program and deleting face scans📎 of over a BILLION users

Meta's VP of artificial intelligence said the company was making the change due to "concerns about the place of facial recognition technology in society."

The facial recognition technology used by FB automatically scanned and identified who was in users' digital photo albums and suggested 'friends' tag one another with a click, the NYT said.

Facebook now has one of the largest servers of digital photos in the world, due to utilizing this technology and it will be removed over the coming weeks.
