So, to all the Patriots who are pissed off and struggling out there, I just want to send out a virtual pep talk in the trenches.
I’m sitting next to you in the mud.
We’re both tired, dirty, bloodied up and, frankly, we smell bad.
Really bad.
We’ve been fighting for a long time. Our rations are running out, our leaders are bickering, or nowhere to be found, the sun is going down, it’s getting cold and it’s starting to fucking rain.
And we are just… in it.
But you know what I’m going to say to you as I pull my flask (which is miraculously still charged) out of my coat and offer you a swig…or six?
“Keep going.”
“Right now, it’s one foot in front of the other for as long as it takes. Rest when you need to, sleep when you can. We are ok. We’re still breathing. (And I, apparently, still have whiskey.) We’ve come this far and we are fighting the good fight. Nothing justifies giving up and God is still in charge. Don’t ever start to think that you have to figure all this out. It’s not on your shoulders. Just keep showing up… ready and willing to do as you’re asked.”
“What’s happening here is bigger than you and me. Bigger than our unit. Bigger than our army, in fact. It’s a global operation happening on a quantum level, woven together by God Himself and it’s happening whether we understand it all or not.”

It’s in this place that the mind ceases to chatter. The noise fades and all of the pieces come together. The energies resonate in a beautiful dance and there is no discordance. No ache. Only Love.
Every once in a while, I am able to visit this place. This Home. It calls to me always and yet I cannot always access it. I’m getting better at it though. Sometimes I get there and I breathe a sigh of utter joy…
And then I tumble back down to the earth. My bones break. My heart aches. I am torn open again and again. And yet, I don’t care. That place EXISTS. And the knowledge of it gets me back up, dusting off the dirt, wiping off the blood. I know that place like I know my own skin, the taste of a storm in the air, or the smell of my child. It is perfection. And I will never stop trying to return to it.

I just found out my mom had to get brought to the hospital tonight. My poor dad had to give her CPR. He couldn't wake her and she was groaning. He called the ambulance and they took her to the ER. Her glucose monitor was telling her her blood sugar was high but I guess it was very low. Could you maybe say a prayer for her? ♥️
