Where did the idea of God as a “parent” come from?
That’s a humanization of something that is actually beyond our ability to comprehend. We do this to try to understand and to give us words and concepts for something boundless. Our human minds need this. Our Hearts don’t though.
Words and concepts come with assumptions and limitations. And therein lies the danger in using them. They are approximations, not the full picture. Not the complete image and frequency of what God is.
If God appeared to the world in some physical form, would that not become the only acceptable standard for seeing Him? Would it become a point of contention when God appeared differently to another person?

Nobody likes listening to a "good" person.
Ever wonder why God uses the brutally wrecked and wretched to send a message to people?
Because these are the people that will be heard!
God knows our landscape.
He knows our hearts.
He knows the valley we walk in and the paths we've traversed.
He knows where we've been.
He knows what we've done.
There are those who truly believe they are on par with Christ in their purity.
They abstained from pre-marital sex.
They never drank alcohol.
They never did drugs.
They don't cuss.
And instead of all of these other scars that most other people pick up, the biggest one they carry is their pride.
Their pride gets so large they cannot see past it.
They are pure. So everyone else just needs to be pure. It's easy. That's what God wants. Why can't everyone else just see what they see?
Because most everyone else is not "pure".
Because we were not truly designed to be.
Neither was our world.
Everything has had its time and it's season for a reason.
So God finds the broken, the wounded. He finds those who've done the breaking, who've done the wounding.
He transforms them.
He uses them.
He moves mountains through them.
He pierces hearts with their arrows.
He knows that when a broken man heals, people pay attention.
He knows that when a wicked man humbles himself and transforms, people pay attention.
There is a reason stories have tribulations. Tribulations Make the story. Without them, there's nothing to tell.
"A man woke up. He had a good day. He did good things. He went to bed. He woke up again. Did good things. Went back to bed."
That's not what we look for! That's not what draws us in.
Maybe we wish it did.. but it doesnt.
God makes a spectacle out of transformation and THAT is what excites and ignites us.
So if you have a tendency to turn inward through your tribulations as I do, perhaps this is your signal to share your story.
No one asked you to be perfect.

[18] For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the
Father.
This👆jumped out at me today. Spirit is our direct communication line to God. Everyone has access to this and it has been stifled six ways from Sunday for ages.
How often are you told to be logical and not trust just your feelings on something? How has your life been structured to only value things that can be scientifically proven? How have you been conditioned to “be rational”?
All of those programs have distanced you from the Father, from Source, because they teach you to disregard the parts of yourself that access that direct comm line: intuition, gut feeling, subconscious mind, unexplainable physical sensations, transcendent knowledge, etc. Then throw in the attacks that have been waged on your physiology for your entire life and you have a real recipe for disaster. Obviously.
Just look around.
The damage done by this programming is immeasurable. But here’s the cool part. All you have to do to get it back is DECIDE you want it. All you have to do is DECIDE to seek God and the pieces of the puzzle will start coming to you.
It doesn’t matter what you’ve done in the past. It doesn’t matter if you’re a mess. It also doesn’t matter if you’ve done everything “right” according to the dogma you’ve been taught. That doesn’t get you anywhere unless you decide within yourself to seek TRUTH.
I thought, for much of my life, that I wasn’t feeling close to God because I wasn’t “doing it right”. I thought that the people I saw at church or the ones who seemed to say all the right things knew more than I did about how to do this God thing. I thought I was less than them when it came to this stuff.
See, that’s part of the game, too.
No one else has any role to play in YOUR experience with God. And, in my opinion, many of the folks who shout the loudest about how you should behave and what you should do to follow the Lord, have never had a truly spiritual experience in their life. And they will do everything they can to actually keep that from happening because it doesn’t fit within their own framework of what THEY were taught and conditioned to believe.
The only way out of the prison cell is to personally wake up. When you do that, you find out you’ve been your own jailor all along and all you have to do is DECIDE to walk out of the cell. It really is that simple.
I didn’t say it was easy. 😉
I just said it was simple.
