If there was an ancient advanced culture that was infiltrated through fear and destroyed or chased off, in the confusion could you take over their mannerisms and tweak them as you go?
Could you take their willingness to share knowledge and make it the ultimate sin?

Could you control the masses by tricking them through fear and sacrifice to dumb themselves down?

Though I haven't confirmed this anywhere.... Here's what I've always just known about druids.
Ancient druids (talking millions of years ago) stored their understandings of the mysteries of life within the trees.
Each bloodline thereafter has a "root tree".
Finding the tree network and accessing it is a whole other story though. But I do think this is coming up at some point
