The banks have been doing everything they can to kick this can down the road. Up to and including stealing from their customers.
I’m sure you all heard about the Zelle fiasco where people were having money disappear from their accounts?
Yeah, well that happened to someone I know personally. Sweet college student. About 18 years old. She had money disappear from her account. A couple grand. Mind you, that was pretty much all she had. It was through Zelle transactions that she did not make. INCLUDING running checks through her account that she never wrote OR endorsed.
After going back and forth with the bank for months she finally ended up in mediation. They tried to say that she had made the transactions with a phone that she NEVER OWNED and she proved it in her hearing.
But guess what? The judge ruled against her. She has no recourse. The bank stole her money. Likely because she’s “the little guy” and they know it. Imagine how many people they’ve done this to.
That was BofA in case you’re wondering.
