Today the tides swirl
Heavier with density
The turmoil spills
Into conscious mentality
Flames ignite
As iron meets irons
Our senses engage in the fight
Despite all our trying
To find that permanent place
Of which we've all heard
To hear the man with a face
And that long brown beard
So we spin and we spin
We eat ourselves alive
Some of us forgive
Some of us die
Buried under the weight of our own inner turmoil
Ready to give in and sink back into the soil
An end of which many hearts have longed for with desire
As they look back on their life with a heart filled with ire
Because there is darkness in this world that is deeply unseen
It leaves an inside voice that is ugly and mean
It tells you that it's your own fault
And that you are to blame
It tells you you're not good enough
That you should be ashamed
It tells you that you don't deserve love
That your only hope is to beg the man above
To see past your brokenness
To respond with forgiveness
To see there's a chance you can be worthy and cleaned
Why is it that we listen to the voice which is mean?
There's another voice isn't there?
Waiting to be heard
It fills you with love
And like feathers to a bird
It reminds you that you were hurt too
And that you can learn
That the only hell we really feel
Is the sting of true love's burn
In this place
Here and now
Where time lingers in space
And gives us a show
Where it's all so real
Where all we do IS feel
Maybe Hell is just where we face our ordeal
Or ordeals upon ordeals
As some of us have said
It's no wonder that some of us at times wanted to just be dead
And while it's taboo to say such a thing
Maybe it's not
Maybe talking about it is what we need
Maybe I can talk about it while someone else can't
Maybe they just need to see someone else rant
About the injustices we face
Through our humanity
Of the human desire to find home and be free
Maybe my pain will give them a small sense of home
Maybe heaven is the utter absence of feeling alone
