The cost is your (old) life. All that you've built and loved and cared for.
But it is a house built on sand... you know this, deep inside, else you would not be here. You are simultaneously healing yourself, the wounded inner child, that glorious soul who chose to come here and to perform this miracle. So your old reality is crumbling, and with it, the life that you had has died. You have died, and you are still in the birth canal for the new... AND you are processing the grief for that death.
The attachments that we have to the old are what tethers us to it, and it is easy for an outside observer to say to you, "just release them" - but that is foolish and lacking compassion - anyone who would say this to you in that sense has yet to release the really big attachments, or they would know the grief and pain that comes along with that releasing: particularly before the new has been realised, at least to the extent where our outside reality reflects that inner transformation.
I very much doubt that you could go back if you desired to - go back to being less than... living the lie, keeping the peace by diminishing the spirit within you that has begun to burst free from it's shackles. I am sorry, I feel the pain that you feel, I too am tired.
That everyone could just go to bed one night and awake on that New Earth: the new day... but it is an extreme transformation on a planetary scale. We are redefining reality, rewiring the Earth supercomputer (not literal) to run on a new program that is based in love. This is not an easy task, or it would have been completed long before now.
No, what is being called for here requires the toughest, baddest-assed souls and angels in The Universe.
That's you, by-the-way. Even when you are feeling the weight of it all pressing down on you, here you are... questioning why (of course!) - yet on you push. Resilience, persistence. Each day you get up and do it again.
In case nobody has said it to you, "Thank you! I love you! I appreciate you!"

This is a long game. Best settle in and enjoy what you can during the process.
No one knows how long it will take, and those who are holding their breath and waiting for the time to come in which you feel like all is well and the “promised land” has arrived, I dare say you’re missing the point.
It really is all about the Journey and not the destination. If you hold off on fully living your life because you’re waiting for some moment to arrive that somehow fixes everything, you may be making a huge mistake.
Hope for a glorious future and Belief that it is coming?
Sure.
Absolutely.
But trying to fit that into a timeframe? Not a good idea.
I know it’s hard to step out into that Abyss of uncertainty. But that’s where the freedom is.
