Received this message from a good friend whose entire family lives in the Asheville/Hendersonville, NC area.
“…not sure if you have connections to resources or people wanting to help out WNC with the floods but if so, please let me know. My entire family is still living there & now that they have service - I’m getting first hand accounts of how catastrophic it is.
It’s like Katrina level but no major media is reporting the extent because they have been completely cut off from the outside world since Friday when the cell towers went down. People are not needing water - they are asking for shovels and pic axes to search & dig for their loved ones in the rubble…

I have friends in NC and what I’m hearing is that supplies are arriving, but there’s no way to get them to the areas that are cut off. The roads are completely gone. They’re asking for skilled hikers who can carry in water and essentials.
Presumably we really have no idea how bad it is or how many lives have been lost. There’s no way to even know yet.
