This is a really good explanation of the concept of “spiritual bypassing” and how it’s so common within the spiritual community.
It’s common in the traditional Church as well , and what’s even more harmful is when the concept of suffering is given some kind of heroic status.
Too often, people buy into the idea that suffering earns them some kind of reward. And it CAN, but only if you learn whatever lesson is embedded within your experience and are able to claim the pearl of wisdom from it. THAT is your “reward”. But suffering should never be given the status of earning you a prize just because you’re enduring it. That’s just dumb. But I digress.
If “pain = reward” is the underlying belief, then you are, in effect, asking for that experience. And in the process, not actually learning a damn thing. It’s one of the most damaging aspects of the “Savior / Sinner” mentality. It’s disempowering at the least and extremely harmful at worst.
Life on Earth comes with ups and downs. We need both in order to understand either.
How we experience that, is up to us.
If you’re in pain, face it and learn from it. And for God’s sake (literally) do not try to tell anyone else what their own pain means or that they should be grateful for it. If they do the work for themselves, they will get to that understanding eventually on their own. Forcing it on someone has a name.
It’s called “Spiritual Abuse”.

Matter and Spirit are inextricably linked. This is the true meaning of the Duality that people try to discredit. We ARE Matter and Spirit combined. Where the concept of Duality becomes an incorrect teaching is in the judgement of one of the other of these things to be “bad” or “good”.
