As I have experienced it, 'something' within me slammed on the brakes in several of these situations, without me even understanding why... I just felt a huge indignation, things that I had accepted (and ignored, and played into myself) for years were all of a sudden unacceptable to the core of my being and I had to say "no" and walk away from those situations.

It was only in hindsight that I could break it down as being exactly what you describe.

Like you say, this is happening en masse all over the place, throughout life, and as I take these stands for myself, I am finding that life is responding differently to me.

So I had heard from many sources that it is almost impossible for a narcissist to 'recover' - due to it being viewed as impossible for a narcissist to take responsibility for anything or to admit wrong on their own part.... and in those situations that I have been involved in, I can see that play out in a million different ways.

But as this appears to be a collective event, I wonder. Will there be a redemption arc for some or many of them down the road, as we all go through this awakening process and the shattering of illusion?

They will be among those who cling to the illusion the hardest, of course... but there is more going on here than any 'normal' playing out of events. The Earth, The Collective Consciousness is going through a mass healing event.

Without placing any expectation of this, I am also not discounting it as a possibility.

For those of us on the other side of it, the answer is the same. The loving thing in this scenario is to base your love on a foundation of self-love, and let that show you where your boundaries need to be, and to stand firm by them. Any temptation that you may feel to reach out and see whether they've had a change of heart, etc. is only going to delay and postpone any potential for awakening for them.

This concept of whether or not a narcissist can change is something that I’ve spent a lot of time and soul searching on. In fact Ash and I have discussed it at length and I think we all see it pretty much the same, we just may have different ideas about where we draw the line on those boundaries that you mention.

And that makes perfect sense, bc boundaries are in fact personal choices. They vary and what one person deems necessary another may see quite differently. It has to do with the stage of healing we are in also. I may need a very wide and solid boundary while I’m beginning to heal and sort out my experiences and memories. As that healing occurs, I may be able to bring that boundary in a bit closer to myself and allow some more interaction. But I can only make those choices as I walk the path. I don’t think they can be predicted. By anyone.

As for the concept of whether they can change - I have a pretty solid stance on that. But only in the clinical sense. If a person ACTUALLY HAS this personality disorder, then by definition, they cannot change because part of the condition is an inability to self-reflect. Not just an aversion to it, or a tendency not to - they CANNOT. And the reason they cannot do it is that it is an existential crisis for them. Every fiber of their being has been wrapped up in making sure that they NEVER take on any responsibility for anything “negative”. This is an essential part of the definition of NPD.

Now, if a person is “just”traumatized, has inner work to do, is mired in defense mechanisms and selfish motivations… that may make for a real doozy of a person to deal with, but if they’re still capable of looking at themselves and if they want to change…then they do not have NPD and have a much better prognosis.

You raise a valid point and you’re picking up what I was trying to lay down, tho Steve. What if the shifting energies we are experiencing create a scenario that we’ve never seen before? What if this massive deconstruction allows for these people to actually break out of their walled fortresses and begin to see themselves? I do think that is possible. I hope it is. But as we watch and wait, I’ll be doing it from a safe distance wherever possible. As we are seeing happen throughout the bigger picture, people whose facades are crumbling can be very dangerous. They do not care who they hurt or what they do in the process of trying to salvage their defensive Egoic constructs.

Rats clawing at each other as they go down with the ship. In order to truly save themselves, they’re going to have to let go of that ship. How many will do that? 🤷🏼‍♀️

I keep saying, “people are either leveling up or going crazy” …

What is happening right now is what I consider the fulfillment of the prophecy of the separation of the wheat and tares… People are either gravitating towards positive timelines or negative timelines, with no in between. While the shift has been subtle, it’s now drastic.

Healing isn't about erasing the past.

It's about changing how the past lives within you, so it no longer controls your present.

Took this on my walk yesterday morning. Yes, I know many are buried in snow and cold. I grew up in that - I get it. This might be too annoying to look at right now 😆
