I was just speaking to "peace over proving" yesterday. When someone misunderstands me or just doesn't "get" something I've shared, I used to explain and explain, giving example after example to "prove" my perspective.
Now....I know my perspective came through countless sequential variables and I've learned that in some cases, you can explain until you're blue in the face and some people will never be capable of truly understanding what it is you're talking about or explaining.
Because they aren't always meant to. And there's peace in realizing that another's comprehension, or lack there of, doesn't make your experience or position or perspective invalid.
Some things are curated for you to see and it's better to leave it at that.

I felt so seen when I first read this. This puts into words exactly how I felt most of my life without knowing why I felt this way. Yes I've had Big T trauma. A few of them. But those really don't even hold a match to the chronic every day little t trauma that continued to accumulate day after day, year after year.
I share these things because once you do see it, you can't unsee it and that is the moment your chains come off. It may take hard choices. It may come at the cost of tears and judgement and having to let go of hopes and dreams you always held onto if "things were different".
But at the end of the day, the only person you can control is yourself. You can't force someone to change and let's be real....if they wanted to treat you better, they would.
Regardless, you deserve to heal. You deserve joy. You deserve to know that you are worth happiness and good things.

For anyone entering onto the path of freedom after enduring this subjugation, please know that the footsteps are yours, but you don’t walk it alone. There are many, many people who have gone before you, who will share their experience and advice if you ask.
Sometimes, often, all you have to do is put it out to the universe.
The most helpful and profound conversation I had on my journey out, was with an online operator at a website like LL Bean. I don’t know how we got onto the topic, but she said just the things I needed to hear, and they’ve stayed with me ever since.
You’re not alone. It won’t be the people you think, but it will be the people you need.
