I will swear in tens of thousands of citizens as deputy sheriffs provided they have their own weapons and be on call and available to me for service.

And they will be allowed to keep those AR-15s, high capacity magazines and whatever else it is, generally speaking, that's being talked about through all the chatter and rhetoric. These people are not going to suddenly, because they're sworn in as my deputy sheriff, start to run out and commit crimes and do bad things with the guns they've owned for decades. They're citizens that elected me into office to protect them and protect their rights. And that's one way I can use the power of my office.”

It would seem that most of the world woes stem from the acquiescence to governance. If power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely then preventing the concentration of power for one over another would produce the opposite. The only proposed mechanism or ideology that seems to attempt to accomplish this is voluntarism. The obstacles of voluntarism are the prevailing monopoly of force and the fear that strikes the individual when confronted with that level of freedom, the responsibility that inextricably comes with it, and the self respect one must embody to preserve it. Additionally,and perhaps the most notable obstacle might be the respect one must have for others in the pursuit of such freedom. I am saddened in contemplating how anyone would settle for anything less and shocked at how so many remain ignorant to the fact that anything less is slavery and in the end, the outcome of inaction will always be self destruction. Ultimately, the first obstacle is solidarity and the current state of things suggests that we just can’t seem to make that one scale. It would be easy to blame those in power but, like Plato’s cave, or the crabs in the pot, it’s more often the masses that crush the visionary. We tend to see solidarity rise in times of crisis. Perhaps that is what this crisis is all about. God tends to become most important when all else seems lost. If enduring all of this and what lies ahead is what is necessary to bring us together and know God, bring it on.
