As a child of the 90s in suburban Australia I recall being taught to trust government implicitly. They are only ever here to help, and certainly not a danger to its citizens.

However, history tells a different story. Governments have caused atrocities and killed their citizens in a measure that doesn't just compete in the hall of fame - it rules it without peer.

With the noblest of intentions, governments repeatedly slide into the most oppressive and destructive force ever created by humans. Under the guise of 'safety', 'progress' or 'compassion', mistakes are always made and the tab is picked up by the nameless millions who lived their lives under tyrannical 'compassion'.
