CORK, Ireland (LifeSiteNews) – An Irish grandmother will spend Christmas in jail after she was handed a six-month sentence for refusing to wear a mask at a restaurant in Bandon, County Cork in the south west of the country.

Margaret Buttimer, 66, had been convicted of violating mask mandates on seven other occasions since the outbreak of COVID-19, telling one store owner that she was “only answerable to God” for her decision not to wear the face-covering.

Judge James McNulty accused Buttimer of “willful disregard for others” and “absurd selfishness” at Bandon District Court on December 16, despite countless experts and studies confirming the ineffectiveness of most masks.

Buttimer had repeatedly declined to leave Jake’s Restaurant in Bandon on November 17, or to don a face-mask.

The former Alaska governor called out the government for its disregard of natural immunity.

PHOENIX (LifeSiteNews) — Former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin drew a line in the sand on COVID-19 vaccination Sunday, declaring she would take the shot “over my dead body.”

Palin was speaking at conservative student group Turning Point USA’s Americafest event in Phoenix, where she explained to TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk that she has already had and recovered from COVID, making the vaccines moot for her regardless of their safety or effectiveness. “Do you remember he said that if you had Covid, you would be naturally immune?” she asked, the Daily Mail reports.

“So at the time we were led to believe we wouldn’t need to have the shot. Well, then they changed their tune,” Palin continued. “Those of us who have had Covid, they’re telling us that even though we’ve had it — we have natural immunity — now that we still have to get a shot. And it’ll be over my dead body that I get a shot. I will not. I won’t do it and they better not touch my kids either.”

The Mail notes that the governor described her family’s COVID situation to People Magazine in March, during which one of her daughters first came down with the virus, then her son Trig, then Palin herself.

“I strongly encourage everyone to use common sense to avoid spreading this and every other virus out there,” she said at the time. “There are more viruses than there are stars in the sky, meaning we’ll never avoid every source of illness or danger … But please be vigilant, don’t be frightened, and I advise reprioritizing some personal time and resources to ensure as healthy a lifestyle as you can create so when viruses do hit, you have at least some armor to fight it.”

In March Palin endorsed mask-wearing as “better than doing nothing,” despite evidence that masks did little if anything to curb the spread of the virus.

On natural immunity, however, the governor is on firmer ground. The conservative Brownstone Institute has compiled 140 research studies finding that COVID immunity from prior infection “is equal to or more robust and superior to existing vaccine,” yet the federal government is heavily invested in the narrative that natural immunity is unreliable and the vaccines are the only true protection against COVID.

In September, White House COVID czar Dr. Anthony Fauci admitted that “I don’t have a really firm answer to you on” why those who have already had COVID should get vaccinated for it, but it was “something that we’re going to have to discuss.” Many Americans assumed such discussions were already well underway.

Studies have found that vaccine-induced COVID protection wanes around six months (or potentially sooner). In October the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) announced it was expanding emergency-use authorization for booster shots six months after the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, and two months after the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. By contrast, a recent Yale study projected that natural immunity would last three times longer at 17 months.

Palin’s stance contrasts sharply with that of former President Donald Trump, who recently revealed he took a COVID booster shot, urged his followers to embrace and claim credit for the vaccines, and accused conservatives who remain hesitant of “playing right into” their political enemies’ hands. Trump recovered from COVID in 2020. President Joe Biden specifically cited Trump’s comments Tuesday as part of his latest appeal for the COVID vaccines and his administration’s vaccine mandates.

PALM BEACH, Florida (LifeSiteNews) — Former President Donald Trump passionately defended the experimental COVID-19 shots in an interview Wednesday, claiming that their creation during his tenure is “one of the greatest achievements of mankind.”

In a wide-ranging 30-minute interview with The Daily Wire’s Candace Owens, Trump touched on a number of subjects, including the events of January 6, the 2020 presidential election, face masks, and the COVID shots.

After acknowledging that Trump has been a strong supporter of the jabs from the very beginning, Owens asked the former president about his stance on mandating their use, explaining that what once was a free option has now become a matter of losing employment for many people, including military personnel.

The former president stated his opposition to legally requiring reception of the jab, telling Owens to “forget about the mandates. People have to have their freedom.”

However, he quickly turned his attention to the shots themselves, defending their rapid development and deployment as “one of the greatest achievements of mankind.” He said the country would have suffered a similar fate to what was seen during the 1917 Spanish Flu epidemic, which he said killed approximately 100 million people and “ended the First World War.”

“There were no vaccines, there were no anything,” he added.

The president continued to boast about the timeframe in which the shots were developed, saying he “came up with three vaccines [Johnson & Johnson, Moderna, Pfizer], all are very, very good. I came up with three of them in less than nine months; it was supposed to take 5–12 years.”

Owens emphasized that “more people have died under COVID this year … under Joe Biden than under you, but more people took the vaccine this year,” calling into question the effectiveness of the jab.

“No,” replied Trump, “the vaccines work but some people aren’t taking them. The ones that get very sick and go to the hospital are the ones that don’t take the vaccine, but it’s still their choice.”

Trump said that he respects “somebody not wanting to take” the jab, giving special mention to those who object on religious grounds, but insisted that he is “so proud of what we did with the vaccine, but it shouldn’t be mandated.”

EDMONTON, Alberta (LifeSiteNews) — The Alberta United Conservative Party (UCP) held a massive, largely unmasked Christmas celebration hours after party leader and Premier Jason Kenney announced new COVID restrictions ahead of Christmas.

Kenney’s UCP hosted a Christmas party for “hundreds” of its members on Wednesday in Edmonton. Included in the previously announced restrictions were a tightening of capacity limits on gatherings in large venues, and a demand that citizens reduce their “social contacts” by 50 percent over the holiday season.

“While these new measures will hopefully lower the risk at large events, our small everyday actions can have a big impact,” said Kenney. “This is why I appeal to all Albertans to reduce their number of contacts by half over the coming weeks, follow the guidelines already in place, and get the vaccine booster as soon as they are eligible.

“It’s the single most important thing anybody can do right now to protect themselves from Omicron,” added the premier.

While Kenney himself was not in attendance at the Christmas party, and the new measures which would have made the party in violation of the protocols had not technically gone into effect yet, citizens were in an uproar after seeing pictures of the apparent hypocrisy that their Christmas celebrations were de facto canceled, but the politicians were still going ahead with their celebrations on a technicality, according to the Western Standard.

Further, the photos obtained by the Western Standard show that not everyone was wearing masks while attending the party, irking Albertans as Kenney’s party is responsible for the ubiquitous indoor mask mandate that has been in effect for months.

In response to the photos and the public outcry, the UPC decided to cancel another gathering scheduled in Calgary.

Despite drastic measures being taken by various Canadian governments in the name of the omicron variant, many who have studied the variant closely suggest there is no cause for concern.

Dr. Angelique Coetzee of South Africa, where Omicron was first discovered, said in an interview with the British independent broadcaster LBC that after four weeks of omicron in her country, “there’s no reason why you can’t trust us when we say it’s a mild disease.”

Alberta’s new restrictions seem to be part of a nationally unified goal of curbing freedoms in the name of COVID-19, as many provinces, including Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Labrador, Quebec, British Columbia, and Nova Scotia have all announced increasingly restrictive measures this week.

VIENNA (LifeSiteNews) — 200 Austrian doctors have signed an open letter criticizing the COVID-19 vaccines, arguing they are inefficient against the virus and can cause serious adverse effects.

“The number of reported side effects of COVID-19 vaccines can only be described as frightening,” wrote Dr. Andreas Sönnichsen, former head of the Department of General and Family Medicine at the Center for Public Health at MedUni Vienna and author of the letter.

The letter came less than a month after Austria announced that vaccination against COVID-19 will be mandatory for all citizens, under penalty of fines or prison sentences, beginning next year.

Sönnichsen addressed his letter to Dr. Thomas Szekeres, President of the Austrian Medical Association, on December 14 last week, in response to a December 2 written statement by Szekeres which read that “based on the available data, from a scientific point of view, and according to the recommendations of the National vaccination Panel, there is basically no reason to advise patients against vaccination against COVID-19.”

The statement also threatened doctors who dare to warn the public against COVID-19 vaccine side effects with disciplinary sanctions.

Sönnichsen deemed that, with this statement, Szekeres had “violated the basic principles of evidence-based medicine and freedom of treatment.”

He also criticized him for having “threatened conscientious colleagues with blanket disciplinary sanctions.”

The data points to vaccine inefficacy
After admonishing Szekeres for his statement, Sönnichsen argued that the COVID-19 vaccine has proven inefficient against the virus.

“It has now been scientifically proven that the protection … loses statistical significance after six to seven months at the latest,” he said, before pointing to scientific evidence that vaccinated and unvaccinated can equally pass on the infection.

“The argument that vaccination can achieve ‘herd immunity’ is therefore obsolete, and it is unknown whether booster vaccination can achieve more extensive protection,” he added.

Sönnichsen went on to argue that the protection provided by the COVID-19 vaccines had proved even weaker against the delta variant and that “it is unknown whether there remains even some protection against the currently spreading Omicron variant.”

Lastly, the Austrian physician argued that the vaccine’s protection, if at all existent, is only relevant to people with a high risk of contracting a severe form of COVID-19, as “98% of people who contract severe forms of COVID-19 show at least one relevant pre-existing condition.”

A ‘frightening’ number of adverse events
Sönnichsen then went on to discuss the numerous reports of adverse events from the vaccine, stating that “the number of reported side effects of COVID-19 vaccines can only be described as frightening.”

He then provided a link to the European database of suspected adverse drug reaction reports, which collects data on COVID-19 vaccine adverse events within the European Economic Area (EEA).

“Nine warning letters have been sent out so far, warning of serious side effects and even cases of deaths,” he added. “The blanket declaration by the Austrian medical association, by politicians and the media that the vaccine is ‘safe,’ has proven to be unscientific propaganda.”

Sönnichsen also referred to medical ethics, as well as to the Declaration of Geneva according to which doctors are “obliged to inform their patients about the numerous possible side effects and risks posed by the vaccine.”

Threatened with sanctions
Since the publication of the letter, Sönnichsen and the 200 signatories of the letter have been demonized and labelled as “Corona-Leugner” (COVID deniers) in the mainstream Austrian media, in spite of the fact that not a single line of the letter questions the existence of COVID-19 or of the COVID-19 pandemic.

What’s more, in a December 16 press conference which took place shortly after the publication of the letter, Andreas Huss, chairman of the ÖKG, Austria’s public health insurance fund, threatened the signatories of the letter and any doctor with similar views with hard sanctions such as criminal charges, banning them to practice medicine, or the withdrawal of their health insurance contracts.

Huss said he has “little understanding” for physicians who speak against the COVID-19 vaccines, as he considers vaccination to be “the only way out of the pandemic.”

At another press conference on the previous day, Sönnichsen blatantly contradicted that idea and called the vaccination campaign the “biggest medical scandal ever.”

“The highly praised vaccination has failed after all!” he said. “The fourth wave is a wave of the vaccinated. Hospitals and intensive care units are overwhelmingly filled with vaccinated people.”

Other doctors also joined in with Sönnichsen in their condemnation of Huss.

“Physicians who contradict the mainstream opinion face fines of up to 36,340 euros, the destructive ban on practicing medicine, and on top of that their deletion from the doctors’ registry,” lamented Johann Missliwetz, a specialist in forensic medicine.

‘We will not be intimated’
Despite these threats, Sönnichsen and the 200 signatories of the letter defied Szekeres, asking him to retract his December 2 statement or to resign, and assured him that they “will not be intimidated by you or any other health official with a similar mindset.”

“We will continue to refer to the Declaration of Geneva and call for freedom of medical treatment, [and] we will continue to treat our patients to the best of our knowledge and according to our consciences,” they said, adding that they would “decide together with each patient individually whether or not vaccination against COVID-19 is appropriate or not.”

Because of his stance on the COVID vaccines and his non-compliance with COVID measures, Sönnichsen has already been fired from the Department of General and Family Medicine at the Center for Public Health in Vienna, according to Austrian news channel ORF.

German MP calls on police to assault anti-lockdown protesters, deletes tweet after backlash

BERLIN (LifeSiteNews) — A German member of parliament has called for police violence against anti-lockdown protesters in a tweet she later deleted.

“The police must act, and in case of doubt, use pepper spray and batons,” tweeted 28-year-old Saskia Weishaupt, the president of the youth organization of the Green Party in Germany.
The young MP posted her comment on Twitter Wednesday evening, but had deleted it by Thursday.
During the short time the tweet was live, many negative comments had been left on the young MP’s Twitter page, with commentators questioning her fitness to be part of the parliament and denouncing her calls for police violence against peaceful protestors or people with different views.
A full version of what was originally posted is still circulating on the internet and reads:

“The tactic of the Querdenker [anti-lockdown movement] is to take space on the streets bit by bit. The police must act, and in case of doubt, use pepper spray and batons. We can’t yield a millimeter to them!”

One of the responses to Weishaupt’s tweet came from Stefan Homburg, former professor of public economics at Leibniz University Hannover:

“It interesting to see how much esteem a member of the Bundestag [German parliament] has for freedom of demonstration, a right guaranteed by our constitution.”
Though the right to peaceful protest is indeed guaranteed by the German constitution, the country has been no stranger to police violence since the beginning of anti-lockdown protests.

Back in August, a Berlin administrative court prohibited protests against virus restrictions, blocking authorization for 13 events amid alleged concerns regarding the delta variant, DW reported, though the city had approved an LGBT “pride” parade with over 35,000 people just two weeks prior.

Police used pepper spray and physical violence to break up the mostly peaceful protests and could be seen assaulting older women and children.

Micronutrients, including vitamins and minerals, are essentially required in varying quantities for the normal functioning of the human body. They are involved in various metabolic reactions and play a key role in health and homeostasis. This article is about the types and health benefits of micronutrients. We will also look into some natural sources of micronutrients.

What are Micronutrients?

Micronutrients include vitamins and minerals. The term micro refers to the fact that these nutrients are required in small quantities. Because the human body cannot synthesize vitamins and minerals, they are also termed essential nutrients.

Water-Soluble Vitamins readily dissolve in water which is the reason for their quick loss via urine. As these vitamins cannot be stored in the body for long, we need to take them regularly. All types of vitamin B and vitamin C are water-soluble. Types of vitamin B include Thiamine, Riboflavin, Niacin, Pantothenic acid, Pyridoxine, Biotin, Folate, and Cobalamin. Vitamin C, also known as Ascorbic acid, is a potent antioxidant with several health benefits.

2) Fat-Soluble Vitamins

Fat-soluble vitamins are often consumed and absorbed in combination with fat-rich foods. Due to their ability to dissolve in fats, fat-soluble vitamins are stored in the body’s liver and other fatty tissues. Fat-soluble vitamins include vitamin A, D, E, and vitamin K. Fat-soluble vitamins play an essential role in many crucial functions of the body.

3) Macrominerals

An imbalance of the concentration of potassium often leads to life-threatening heart complications such as arrhythmia. Some vitamins like vitamin E and vitamin C have antioxidant properties. These antioxidant properties prevent the free radical-mediated damage of the heart and blood vessels. Many studies show that magnesium is involved in lowering blood pressure. 6) RBC production and Tissue Regeneration

Micronutrients are necessary for the normal production of red blood cells in the human body. Iron and vitamin B9 or folic acid are required for RBC production. Vitamin B9 is involved in the synthesis of DNA of new red blood cells. For the production of red blood cells, there is a need for hemoglobin. Iron is a component of hemoglobin. A deficiency of iron or folic acid can lead to anemia. Folic acid is also necessary for tissue regeneration. Some of our body tissues, such as GIT cells, undergo rapid shedding and regeneration. A deficiency of folic acid can impair this tissue regeneration.

7) Function of Thyroid Gland

The thyroid is one of the most important glands of the human body. The hormones produced by the thyroid gland affect almost all the organs systems of the body. Minerals are essentially required for the production of thyroid hormones. Iodine is directly involved in the production of thyroid hormones.
