Father tried to eradicate all the weaknesses of little Maud. Once he noticed that the girl was afraid of rodents. To fix his daughter, he locked her barefoot in the basement of the house for the night and ordered her to freeze motionless in the middle of the room. There were other experiments on the child: Maud held on to electric wires, did without food or heat, and lived in complete silence for weeks.
The father believed that physical endurance was an obligatory sign of a superman. A music teacher saved the girl from her father, who realized that something was wrong in the family. Soon he offered Maud to work in a musical instrument store, where she met her future husband, Richard Julien. At 18, Maud ran away from home to Richard.
Further, Maud Julien underwent rehabilitation for a long time. The cruel tests affected the girl's health: she had bad teeth, the liver began to deteriorate due to alcohol, and there were plenty of chronic diseases.
Currently Maud Julien works as a psychotherapist. She wrote the book "The Only Girl in the World", in which she shared her childhood memories.
