On UK Column News yesterday (31 Jul 24), I warned about the use of preventative orders on behaviour, in order to keep the public "safe". This afternoon, Kier Starmer has announced his intent to make widespread use of such orders.

In essence, this gives local authorities and police powers to control the behaviour of people, because of things they have done in the past, rather than things they are doing, or might be about to do.
