I like Charles Malet. He strikes me as a rare exception: someone who feels compelled to speak out, even though it’s going to cause him inconvenience or worse. The U.K. Column people, as far as I can tell, are all like this. I didn’t realise until just now that Charles writes for U.K. Column (I don’t routinely consume any media because I simply don’t have time).
This is a very sane piece in an insane world, from a former policeman, ex-British Army.
Here, he flays open recent legislation which forever changes what you can say in this country, taking us well down the road to the obvious objective of chilling free speech to the point that people won’t say anything about anything that isn’t approved narrative.
He also points out that official news organizations are NOT BOUND BY THESE SAME LAWS.
Ask yourself, why are they doing this? It’s clearly a preparatory step to presumably much worse.
If this feels shockingly totalitarian, that’s because it is. Our lawmakers will vote for whatever they’re told to.
I doubt our judiciary will say a peep. Main media will play along. There are no limits to what a government can do under such circumstances, because there are no (not few but zero) civil society institutions willing and able to oppose anything bad.
I’ve said before to my own children that I recommend they identify the least bad locations to explore emigrating to. I’ve only a relatively short time left in decent health. I don’t plan to move to rural Africa. But someone fit & well and 30 years of age? You surely cannot be planning to remain here. Why would you, if you had options?
Best wishes
Mike

Mr Malet is correct and it's nice to see someone else stating that the UK government is a terrorist organisation within the definition of its own legislation. Myself and my colleague have discussed this ad infinitum over the last few years and reached the same conclusion
The UK government is of course also aiding and abetting a genocide, again within the definition of its own legislation, and likely we are too, as we continue to fund them via our taxes. More on that another day
The attached article covers the recent arrests following the Southport incident, and the Online Safety Act. Worth a read for a greater understanding.
s180 of the legislation of course needs repealing. It's an affront. As my good friend and colleague said to me yesterday "we need to make Orwell fiction again" (MOFA)

Kevin Lister's life has been trashed, completely, after he raised a safeguarding concern for one of his students who had requested to be called by a different name and considered to be a different gender. This should be sent far and wide, certainly to all parents and educators.
