The state protects its own. Former Labour MP Ivor Caplin, a minister in Blair's government, has been arrested for attempting to meet what he thought was a 15-year-old boy for sex. This is yet another example of the government avoiding proper investigations into child abuse because the leads would likely expose connections to its own agencies. Astonishingly, Labour MP's recently voted against investigating these crimes.
