Genome sequencing is becoming the cornerstone to enabling personalized medicine, global food security and wildlife conservation. It is time-consuming to process every step in the pipeline of genome sequencing. Particularly, it is slow to use deep neural networks to translate vast amounts of raw electrical signals produced by genome sequencers to digital DNA symbols. Moreover, genomic data are sensitive, thereby requiring privacy-preserving protection. This project will develop a novel privacy-preserving algorithm and hardware co-design methodology to make genome sequencing more power efficient, scalable and accessible, making it possible to realize its value in socially relevant applications that demand fast genome sequencing solutions. It will also lower the barrier to genome sequencing development, bringing the benefits of sequencing to users who are not machine learning and hardware design experts.
Qualifications

This scholarship including a living allowance 10% above standard support rates, valued at $32,000 per annum plus $3,000 research support. UniSA in collaboration with three industry partners, Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT), KELLER and Inconmat is leading a research project aimed at finding a cost-effective, durable and environmentally friendly solution to replace deteriorating timber piles in our coastal jetties.

اگه امسال قصد اپلای دارین، مخصوصا برای دانشگاههای آمریکا و کانادا، باید کمکم شروع کنین به آماده/آپدیتکردن CV (رزومه) و ایمیلزدن به اساتید. اما اگه دوست دارین قبل از ایمیلزدن، یه نفر دیگه که قبلا پذیرش گرفته هم یه نگاهی روی CV شما بنداره و بهتون فیدبک بده، آرمین جان و چند نفر از دوستانش به صورت «کاملا رایگان» این کار رو براتون انجام میدن. مخصوصا اگه برای کامپیوترساینس و کانادا میخواین اپلای کنین، کامنتهاشون میتونه براتون مفید باشه.

Specifically, we are interested in methods that allow transformers to scale up to operate on high resolution images, an essential task for medical image analysis. We are interested in developing more data-efficient training methods for vision transformers which reduce their reliance on large pretraining datasets. The project will include aspects of interpretability – providing insights into how vision transformers make decisions – and applications to medical image analysis.
